March 2022 Newsletter

Hello supporters of AGL,

AGL, still going strong after 20 years.

Pandemics, War, Floods, Climate change etc!

We have all had a lot to deal with!

Australian Global Logistics remain specialist International freight forwarders along with continuing to service the wine, medical and complimentary medicines sectors and more recently automotive rare spares from the US.
Our global spread of business remains unchanged.

China continues to be a major player, however, no longer holds it’s place as number one.

Our customers now seek arrangements for their supply chains and customer locations across many countries.
Geographically the primary focus of our customers has shifted and is the UK, USA and Europe with Asia increasing in importance.

AGL, through our existing associate arrangements, continue to handle the international freight forwarding import and export needs for all our clients to all destinations.

Free Trade Agreements

Australia has twelve free trade agreements (FTAs) in force, with eighteen countries.

Australia has signed FTAs with the United Kingdom, Indonesia, Hong Kong and Peru and is working towards ratification of these agreements.

Australia has ratified PACER Plus, a free trade agreement that includes New Zealand and nine Pacific Island countries.

Extensive negotiations have taken place with The United States with the view to open up freer trade between the two countries.

Around 70 per cent of Australia’s two-way goods and services trade is with countries with whom we have either an in-force or a concluded free trade agreement.

Australia is engaged in negotiations to conclude new FTAs, including separate negotiations with the European Union and those working toward a Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, which would include the ASEAN countries as well as China, Japan, Korea, India and New Zealand.

Investment

Foreign investment is crucial to Australia's economy. It improves competition and productivity, encourages innovation and gives Australia opportunities to diversify and expand its economy, create more jobs and contribute more broadly to regional and global markets.

Australia's highly skilled workforce, robust economy, trusted legal system and stable society make the country an attractive location for foreign investors. The stock of foreign investment in Australia was A$3 trillion at the end of 2015.

A large number of foreign companies are registered in Australia and many have developed close links with local firms. This has generated cooperation on research and development and resulted in Australian companies becoming integral parts of regional and global supply chains.

The future

Times are challenging, however, opportunities continue to present themselves.
